Full Spectrum vs Broad Spectrum vs Isolate CBD: What's the Difference?
Every CBD oil label leads with one of three words — full spectrum, broad spectrum or isolate — and the difference between them is the single most useful thing to understand before buying.
Full spectrum
A whole-plant extract. Alongside CBD it keeps the hemp plant's minor cannabinoids (CBG, CBC, CBN), terpenes and trace THC — always below the legal threshold (our batches test below 0.3%). Buyers choose full spectrum for the so-called entourage effect: the idea that the plant's compounds work better together than in isolation. Our 1000 mg, 2000 mg and 4000 mg oils are full spectrum.
Broad spectrum
The same whole-plant profile with the THC additionally stripped to below detectable limits. It is the middle path: minor cannabinoids and terpenes retained, THC effectively zero. Our 500 mg starter oil, gummies and capsules use broad spectrum extract.
Isolate
Purified CBD and nothing else — a crystalline extract dissolved in carrier oil, typically 99%+ pure, with zero detectable THC and an almost neutral taste. It is the standard recommendation for anyone subject to workplace drug testing. See our THC-free isolate oil.
How to choose
- Want the complete plant profile and don't get drug tested? Full spectrum.
- Want the profile without THC? Broad spectrum.
- Drug tested at work, or want flavourless? Isolate.
Whatever you choose, the non-negotiable is the certificate of analysis: it proves which spectrum you actually bought. Our guide on reading a COA shows what to look for.
